Chad co-founded Nairobi-based M-KOPA Solar, the global leader in pay-as-you-go solar with over 650,000 customers in Africa. He currently serves as a Senior Advisor to M-KOPA's board, having previously served as founding CFO and later as Chief Credit Officer. He began work on M-KOPA with the two other founders during its pre-launch piloting in 2010, and has lived in Nairobi with his wife and three boys since the company launch in 2011.
Since 2018 he serves as an Investment and Operations Principal at KawiSafi Ventures, a private equity fund focused on universal energy access in East Africa, and sits on the board of Redavia GmbH, a solar leasing company focused exclusively on African off-grid commercial customers.
From 2008 to 2010, Chad served as the CFO of the Africap Microfinance Investment Fund, based in Johannesburg. Prior to that, he spent 10 years in the investment banking division of Bank of America in Sydney and New York, working on fixed income, structured finance, and derivative transactions.
He is a CFA charterholder and holds a BBA from the University of Wisconsin, and an MBA with distinction from Oxford University.
