Policies like these are not unusual. According to Botoff Consulting, 45% of US family offices, and 55% in Europe, use them to a significant extent.
There's been a total division within successful families, where they say - over here - this is where we make the money. And - over there - here's a foundation, where we give back, promote our legacy, and never the twain shall meet. It makes zero sense.
But Blue Haven's principals, Liesel Pritzker Simmons and her husband, Ian Simmons, don't want to throw money in a bucket. Instead, they have broken new ground by devoting their entire family office to the pursuit. Not every patriarch would like the idea, but Blue Haven could become a template for family offices in the future, as more members of the next generation seek to chart a new course.
