Megan McCarthy is Blue Haven’s Director of Partnerships. In her role, she sources and strengthens external relationships with peers and partners, helps develop and articulate our investment strategy across the portfolio, manages strategic new projects, and provides family office and portfolio operations support. Megan plays a unique role as an integrator across our internal departments as well as the broader industry. In managing a wide network, she participates in webinars, events, and investor groups and creates opportunities for partners to meet and learn from one another. She also oversees Blue Haven’s newsletter and website, ensuring that our voice is being used to elevate and amplify the family office’s work and the work of its partners.
When Megan joined the team in 2018, she was instrumental in helping our principals shape their philanthropic strategy focused on building the impact investing field and tackling climate market failures. She launched our catalytic investments strategy, recognizing the vast need for more innovative capital. Today, she continues to serve as an advisor to Blue Haven’s Initiatives team as its strategy evolves.
Prior to joining Blue Haven, Megan was an Associate on Omidyar Network’s impact investing team and an Associate at Goldman’s Private Wealth Management division in San Francisco. She also served as a Princeton in Asia Fellow in Yangon, Myanmar, and worked in Deloitte’s Financial Risk practice.
Megan obtained her MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management where she was the teaching assistant to Former Dean David Schmittlein and President Emerita Susan Hockfield in their capstone course “Corporations at the Crossroads.” She also earned a BS in Business Administration and Finance from Georgetown University.
Megan lives in San Francisco with her partner, James, and their dog Zerlina. In her spare time she enjoys running, cooking, and interviewing Bay Area high school seniors for Georgetown’s Alumni Admission program. And, because she believes it’s important to demystify personal financial management, she enjoys helping friends and family invest and manage their assets.
